How does it work?
Fotona Cellulite Treatments are a 2 step non-invasive laser procedure. The first step of the two step process removes fat. It also shrinks the fatty tissues, smoothes the skin and reduces the appearance of cellulite. The non-invasive procedure is called Lipolysis. We use the Fotona Nd:Yag PIANO Mode Laser to safely and rapidly stimulate the metabolism of fat cells. Then your body, though a natural process, takes the dead fat cells away, removing the fat.
So it tightens the skin?
Yes, during second step, the laser tightens the surrounding skin, contracting the skin and stimulating collagen and initiates new collagen formation. The helps improve the appearance of cellulite immediately. It also continues to work for months, as it safety stimulates new collagen formation. The new collagen improves the elasticity of the treated areas. Using the Fotona Er:Yag SMOOTH Mode laser, the procedure is a fast, safe and effective non-invasive alternative to liposuction.
What areas can be treated?
Legs, Inner and Outer Thighs and Arms.
Who can have this procedure?
Patient selection is very important as the procedure is a cellulite conturing procedure and not a weight loss procedure. Depending on your desired results, 5-10 or more treatments each taking approximately 1 hour may be necessary. Consultations are recommended to answer any questions you have, review your expectations and identify any limitation of the procedure. You will loose inches and your skin will have much less cellulite. Your skin will be tighter, lifted and with less fat. For Fotona Cellulite procedures unwanted areas of cellulite can be improved in a broad range of body types. Some do see a weight loss after the procedure, but it isn’t the main focus of the procedure. The procedure is for fat removal and skin tightening in areas of stubborn cellulite that are resistant to exercise and weight loss.

Does it hurt?
There is some “warmth” to the skin during the procedure. Most people perceive it as warm or hot. It is minimally uncomfortable. If it becomes uncomfortable, we move to a different section, and the discomfort goes away immediately. We don’t use numbing medication because we need to sense when things get warm for the procedure. We use cooling for part of the procedure and it really helps make this procedure very well tolerated.
Are there any side effects?
Besides some slight skin discomfort, there may be some redness for 3 or so days after the procedure. There is a small risk of changes in skin pigment, but we take steps to limit this possibility. We also recommend keeping the area out of the sun for 3 or more weeks after treatment.
