Are there any side effects from JUVÉDERM®?

Possible side effects include site injection pain, redness, bruising, bleeding and uneven distribution of the JUVÉDERM®. Some clients get nodules over the injection site. Most of these nodules are temporary but rarely they may become permanent. The risk is less with Juvederm than some fillers and Juvederm is the most studied and consistent filler on the market. Another potential side effect from fillers is when the filler is absorbed over the year, there can be loose skin where the filler was. There is the possibility of serious, rare side effects such as unintentional injection into a blood vessel or compression of a blood vessel. This usually happens immediately and there are treatments for it. Sometimes it happens up to 24 hours later. If the area becomes white, see me immediately or go to the Emergency Room. The chances of this happening are very small, but if it does happen, the complications can be serious and may be permanent. There are rare complications, which have been reported for facial injections, can include vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, loss of blood supplyto the tissues or permanent scarring of the skin.
